Available route means an existing connection with specific requirements. In approved Vision Pro update identifies features included in the approved update; check the App Store for download availability. In testing is not a public release. In development means a restricted development path, not a public feature. Foundation only is supporting code, not the complete experience. Planned and Research features are unavailable.

Ways to connect

7 capabilities
Available route

HDMI / UVC viewing

A compatible HDMI/UVC viewing route is available on Vision Pro. Exact source, capture-card, strap, audio and video-mode combinations still matter. Mac and iPad UVC receivers are planned separately.

In testing

Local companion sharing

The Vision Pro update with companion connection setup is approved. Mac, iPhone and iPad senders remain in testing; wireless sharing needs matching apps. Current sharing is one source per connection, with control on the source device.

Planned / pending approval

PlayStation & Xbox Remote Play

Direct PS5, PS4 and Xbox Series / One connections are planned, with each console requiring its own supported integration, authentication and physical testing.

Planned / pending approval

PlayStation, Xbox & GeForce NOW cloud

Provider integrations are separate planned routes. No native or embedded cloud-gaming integration is currently available in the public app. Provider games, memberships and regional requirements remain separate.

Planned

Play away from home

Remote access over the internet needs secure reachability, pairing, recovery and network testing. The current companion connection is local-network only.

Foundation only

Multiple sources, accounts & iCloud

Saved-source and local account-profile foundations and non-secret private-iCloud settings sync exist. That does not connect provider accounts, sync sign-in sessions or enable multiple live streams.

Planned / pending approval

Focused provider viewing

A minimal player experience is a goal where a provider permits it. Existing browser research is not a supported gameplay route and does not override provider restrictions.

Picture, depth & sound

10 capabilities
In approved Vision Pro update

Flat, curved & immersive screens

The approved Vision Pro update includes flat, adjustable curved and immersive HDMI/UVC screens with saved size, distance, position and framing controls. A shared presentation path for companion streams remains separate work.

Research

On-device AI 2D-to-3D

Optional inferred depth for ordinary video is planned. No working conversion model is included yet. Comfort, artifacts, responsiveness and a quick return to 2D must be validated.

Foundation only

Side-by-side stereoscopic video

Metadata-driven spatial playback has a foundation. Raw side-by-side / over-under input, eye order and comfortable windowed or immersive playback require more implementation and testing.

Research

ML upscaling toward 4K

A separate on-device enhancement pipeline is planned for lower-resolution sources. Upscaled output will be identified separately from native source resolution.

Planned

High-refresh streaming, up to 120fps

Higher source frame rates are a future target where the complete route supports them. The current companion stream is limited to 60fps. Screen refresh is not a delivered-video guarantee.

Research

60-to-120 frame generation

Optional generated frames are a separate research target. They are not additional source frames and do not make game input run at 120 updates per second.

Planned

Native 4K / 5K & AV1 / HEVC

Higher-resolution and codec paths require separate device and source support. UVC can request advertised 4K formats; companion video currently caps at 1920 × 1080. 5K and AV1 are not implemented.

Planned

HDR & tone mapping

An end-to-end color pipeline, source metadata and device-specific validation are required. HDR output is not currently qualified, and SDR must remain a usable fallback.

Planned

Spatial audio

Companion audio is stereo. Spatial rendering, head tracking and any multichannel source support need their own implementation and synchronization tests.

Foundation only

Latency and frame pacing

Bounded queues, late-frame handling and local diagnostics exist. Performance testing continues; no zero-latency or wired-equivalence claim is made. User-adjustable network buffering remains planned.

Controls & shared play

6 capabilities
Planned

Wired + wireless, together

Multiple devices visible together inside InfinitumView on Vision Pro, including one HDMI/UVC source alongside wireless companions. Qualification starts with one wired + one wireless, then works toward one wired + three wireless. Independent screens, audio focus, source controls and automatic resource limits are required; simultaneous support is not yet qualified.

Planned

Headset-to-source controller input

Controller detection and pairing guidance exist. Forwarding gameplay input over an authenticated connection is not implemented. For HDMI/UVC and current companion sharing, controls stay with the source.

Planned

DualSense features

Buttons and sticks, haptics, adaptive triggers, motion, touchpad and light-bar behavior will be evaluated individually by device and route. Complete wireless feature support is not promised.

Planned

Remapping, keyboard & mouse

Remapping, dead zones, sensitivity, per-game profiles and gameplay keyboard/mouse forwarding follow a working input channel. App navigation shortcuts already exist.

Planned

Up to four sessions & local co-op

Several players on one source and several independent streams are separate planned modes. The mixed-source workspace includes wired and wireless inputs; four simultaneous sources is an initial qualification target, with supported counts and quality determined by device testing.

Planned

Microphone & voice chat

Voice return needs a supported route and explicit microphone consent. Current companion sharing does not capture the microphone.

More than gaming

5 capabilities
In testing

Desktop and app viewing

Mac window/display sharing and iPhone/iPad broadcasts are in testing. Remote desktop control is a separate future feature.

Foundation only

Media and spatial libraries

Local photo/video viewing is included in the approved Vision Pro update. Development-only 360° panoramas and metadata-based 180°/360° video, planned 180° photos and library workflows are detailed below and on the Media page.

Foundation only

Camera & creator monitoring

UVC, framing guides and clean screenshot/video-only recording foundations exist. Exact camera profiles, exposure/color tools, audio recording and field monitoring remain to be qualified or built.

Planned

A wider companion family

Apple senders are in testing. Windows 10+, Android 14+ and Ubuntu 22.04+ adapters remain unfinished. Other receiver apps are separate work; Apple TV is deferred.

In testing

Appearance & accessibility

Automatic, Light and Dark appearance, four free themes, contrast, motion and text-size controls are included in the approved Vision Pro update. Companion implementations remain in testing; accessibility coverage still depends on actual device testing.

Photos, video & immersive media

10 capabilities
In approved Vision Pro update

Photos from Files & Photos

The approved Vision Pro update includes Standard Photo viewing from Files and Photos, keeping the full image visible on a flat, resizable screen. No capture hardware or Infinitum account is required.

In approved Vision Pro update

Local video playback

The approved Vision Pro update includes conventional local video from Files and Photos, played in a window with the system player. Device and codec support still determine which files play.

In development

360° panoramic photo viewing

An explicit 360° Panorama mode wraps a suitable equirectangular, approximately 2:1 image around the viewer. This immersive path is development-only; standard photos remain the default.

Planned

180° photo viewing

Dedicated 180° still-image projection and stereo-photo handling remain planned. A 180° image should not be described as a supported 360° panorama.

In development

180° / 360° immersive video

Metadata-driven 180°, 360° and wide-field video presentation exists in development builds for compatible Apple Projected Media Profile (APMP) assets. It remains unavailable in the public release path and requires physical format testing.

In development

Spatial & stereoscopic media

Compatible video can use its embedded spatial metadata in the development immersive player. Raw side-by-side and over-under files, eye-order controls and stereo still images need separate implementation and qualification.

In development

Apple Immersive Video

The development media path relies on compatible assets and system support for Apple Immersive Video. No content catalog or universal AIV playback compatibility is promised; physical asset testing remains.

In development

Direct HTTPS / HLS video

A direct remote-video source path exists behind development access. Public-release media remains local-only. A pasted URL does not provide a streaming-service integration or access to protected content.

Planned

Media library, metadata & subtitles

Persistent library organization, thumbnails, metadata browsing and broader subtitle workflows remain planned. Current local imports are temporary session files, not a permanent media library.

Planned

Your panorama around your game

Use a user-approved 360° photo as an environment around an HDMI/UVC game screen. This is separate from the development panorama viewer and still needs integration, comfort and memory testing.

Everyday app tools

6 capabilities
